ArtSmart Cultural and Fine Arts Summer Camp for Kids ArtSmart is our unique, signature program which combines three separate weeks into one fun and educational experience for children 6-13 years old. The first and third weeks are dedicated to the customs and culture of exotic locales, exploring new and different ways of seeing the world. With a hands-on educational approach, children experience adventures through demonstrations and their own personal creations of art. Each week they leave with new words, new projects, and a new appreciation for other parts of the world. ArtSmart 2005 highlighted India with talks and photos of the people, Taj Mahal, animals, and a special presentation of the culture, dress and spices of India. Children created a peepal leaf painting, chowki, ikat, and a miniature rangoli. The fine arts program of the second week introduces children to different art mediums. Artists skilled in each medium guide the children through the basics to a completed artwork. Each child is taught to use his/her imagination to reveal inherent artistic talent. Children finish the week with pride in their accomplishments and a better understanding of the beauty of art. Friday of each ArtSmart week is Guest Day, with family and friends invited to imagine a trip to another country where unique artwork created by their child is on display. Costs are nominal, with discounts for multi-week attendance. Scholarships are available for qualified families with two or more children wishing to attend. Call 409-983-4881 for information. |
